A stratified randomization scheme in a 1:1 randomization will be used to stratify for WHO Performance Status (0 vs. 1 to 2) and LDH (£1.5×upper limit of normal versus > 1.5 ×upper limit of normal ). Oxaliplatin/5/FU/LV(FA) will be administered every 2 weeks. *** (or placebo), at a dose of 1250mg, will be administered orally on a once daily continuous schedule. The trial has sufficient power to detect a clinically meaningful difference between the progression free survival distributions of the two treatment groups. Approximately, 240 patients are required for randomization.
