Let me give my defination first.It is not the defination of mine.This is the defination of hypertensive ermergencies and urgencies as known in JNC-VI.Hypertensive ermergency is the patient with severly elevated blood pressure with evidence of progressive target organ dysfunction.That is very important.Because these patients requied immediate reduction blood pressure and ?further deteriation reland on other organ function.Hypertensive urgency is also a patient who has severely blood pressure with evidence of target organ damage ,but usually this target organ dysfuction is relatively stable,and this patient can be managed by orally administered medication without hospital in the ermergency room.
